Texas Chili Time!

I have had this urge to make homemade chili for quite some time (must be the cowgirl inside me) and tonight I did it and it was amazing! Not going to lie I was a bit nervous. I took the recipe out of my Bride and Groom First and Forever Cookbook and did a little adjusting. My Mom said I should enter a chili contest and she would cheer for me...Love it! I was going to make homemade cornbread but I got to stressed out about the chili so I just did cornbread out of the box.

Texas Chili
Ingredients
1  Tablespoon Olive Oil
2  Medium Yellow Onions, Chopped
3  Tablespoons Chopped Garlic
3  Tablespoons Chili Powder
2  Tablespoons Paprika
1  Pound Ground Turkey Burger (you can use beef but I don't eat beef normally plus turkey burger is healthier)
2  Teaspoons Kosher Salt
2 Cans (28 ounces each) crushed tomatoes with puree
1 Can (15 ounces) Kidney Beans, rinsed and drained
1 Can (15 ounces) Barbecued Baked Beans, do not drain

Heat oil in heavy bottomed pot over medium heat. Add the onions and garlic stirring occasionally until tender, 7-10 minutes. Brown and drain turkey burger. Add the chili powder and paprika and stir until well combined. Add the turkey burger and remaining ingredients. Reduce the heat to low, cover and simmer for 30-60 min stirring occasionally.

(If its too spicy for some they can add sour cream when they eat it. Cheese and tortilla chips also go really well in it when served.)
